Audience

There are a variety of different audiences, who have different preferences towards specif films and fim genres, therefore it is extremely important to know how to target a specific type of audience in order for your movie to appeal to them.
It is importants to think about audiences in terms of:
-Age
-Gender
-Other Demographics(location eg. rural or urban, social calsses eg. middle clast ect.)

It is also important to consoder:

-PRIMARY AUDIENCES : The main target audience of a film, those who are likely to go and see it on its opening weekend.

-SECONDARY AUDIENCES : The audience who will only go and see a movie after they have heard about it, either from friends or from reading reviews and have been persuaded that it is worth seeing. They will not risk it on its opening weekend.

-PSYCHOGRAPHIC PROFILES: Charactrisitcs as well as behaviour.

Thrillers have always been known for its fast paced, action sequences, fight scenes and its gripping and tense storylines keeping its audiences gripped and this would usually appeal to the male gender, ranging perhaps between the mid-teens and late 20s, however as we are well aware, there are many different types of Thriller Sub-Genres which appeal to a variety of different audiences, therefore it is hard to pick out a specific target audience who are drawn to the Thriller Genre, in this case it is important to categorise the individual Thriller types.

-Sci Fi Thrillers: this would appeal mainly to the male gender, ranging from mid teens to late 20s who are intererested in science fiction etc.

-Historical Thrillers: this could appeal to either males or females, usually from an older age group, particularly those who are drawn to history, or historical events.

-Spy/Espionage: thriller films have evolved from this specific type of sub genre, and this usually appeals to males who are in the mid teens to late 20s and even early 30s as they are gripped by the fast paced action.

-Legal Thrillers: once again this could appeal to both genders,particularly from the older generation.

-Romantic Thrillers: this appeals to women and even couples who enjoy watching movies together, which could range from teen to adults in there 30s.

-Political Thrillers: can apeal to females but usually the target auience are males from the older generation.

-Psychological/Supernatural Thriller: usually appeals both genders.

Due to the fact that i am in my mid-teens, it would be suitable for me to target an audience similar to my age group and also i would aim to target the male audiences a bit more than the female audiences. To attract this audience, i believe i must include aspects in our everyday lives which teenagers can relate to as they may have experienced similar issues. It is also very important to involve some action as well as drama and tension in order to keep the audience gripped with a range of enigmas, a range of persuits, innocent victims etc. therefore the possible Thriller Subgenres that may be a consideration are action thrillers with some added drama or even crime thrillers.
